PASTORAL COUNCIL NEWS

The members of the Pastoral Council are interested in your comments about our parish. Please feel free to share your thought with them personally. Pastoral Council meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday each month and the minutes are available on the credenza in the office if you would like a copy. The members are:  President, Michele Michaels, Crystal Adams, Scott Ankrom, Wendy Babcock, Joe Detwiler, Cindy Kolecki , and Bob Zeman (along with Monsignor Frecker, Deacon Roger Pry and Regina Hrytzik).

 

 

 

 

 

Members of Pastoral Council together with the Pastor and Parish Staff are responsible for strategic planning and the advancement of parish life.  They address the parish goals and concerns, maintain a broad, holistic perspective of the parish, focus on those areas which are most important to continuing growth in parish life, and in the personal faith life of our parishioners and plan programs to reach these goals.

Members are: Chair: Michele Michaels, Eric Brunney, Sean Cleary, Wendy Babcock, Crystal Adams, Cindy Kolecki, Monsignor Frecker, Deacon Roger Pry and Regina Hrytzik

 

PASTORAL COUNCIL COMMISSIONS

The primary function of the commissions is the planning and implementation of parish programs, which are compatible with the Parish Vision Statement, Mission Statement, goals and objectives. Members serve a one to three year term and attend one meeting per month. The current Commissions are:

 

FAITH FORMATION

Coordinates the activities and groups devoted to spiritual formation of our parishioners.  Promotes programs such as retreats, days of recollection, parish missions, prayer services, special sacramental occasions, small group faith sharing and spiritual renewal programs.  Represents our Parish in Ecumenical affairs.  The Liturgy Committee is a sub-group of this Commission.  Evangelization and the RCIA are also tied into this Commission.  They also coordinate programs of religious education to reach the total membership of the Parish, from newborns to elderly.  Promotes sacramental preparation programs, Vacation Bible School, Children’s Liturgy of the Word and the Sunday morning nursery.  This group also advises the Parish on matters pertaining to, Parish School of Religion and high school youth ministry.  The Communication Committee is a sub group of this commission.

 

CHRISTIAN SERVICE & SOCIAL CONCERNS

Promotes and coordinates programs that strive to extend the justice and charity of Christ in full measure, within our Parish and the whole community.  Programs such as:  special collections of food, clothing, and funds for the needy; study of peace and justice issues; concern and help for the sick and aged, as well as bereavement; all fall under this commission. 

 

PARISH ACTIVITIES

Coordinates Parish social and recreational activities for all ages.  Plans parish dances, dinners, parties, etc.; provides ‘coffee and donuts’ as well as special receptions on occasions.  Plans programs of welcome for newcomers and generally finds ways for our parishioners to come together as a Christian family.
